What Is Ultrasonic Cleaning?

Ultrasonic cleaning is a process that uses high-frequency sound waves to remove dirt, contaminants, and debris from objects submerged in a cleaning solution.

  • Ultrasonic parts cleaning completely removes all traces of contamination from machinery or industrial equipment.
  • These contaminants may include dust, dirt, oil, pigments, polishing compounds, flux agents, or soot.
  • This type of cleaning provides a manageable alternative to total replacement of machinery or parts, ultimately saving your business time and money.
  • BELFOR’s ultrasonic cleaning service offers a fast and effective method for de-rusting and cleaning machinery parts, stock (including injection molding, tools, and gear parts), and semi-finished products.
  • At BELFOR, we use industrial-sized ultrasonic cleaning dip lines that can be mobilized, allowing us to use them on-site at various external industrial facilities.
  • Our ultrasonic parts cleaning can help save you recovery time, allowing your business operations to resume at a faster rate.

How Does BELFOR’s Ultrasonic Cleaner Work?

  • At BELFOR, we use our ultrasonic cleaners together with a specialized ultrasonic cleaning solution.
  • Our method removes all traces of contamination from solid surfaces more effectively compared to regular cleaning with water.
  • This cleaning technique is perfect for industrial equipment, as it’s both thorough and gentle, preventing damage to delicate components.

How BELFOR Uses Ultrasonic Cleaning to Clean Contaminated Machinery

Our professional team uses a specialized ultrasonic cleaning sequence to return your equipment to its pristine condition, saving you time and money in replacing machinery parts.

Our ultrasonic cleaning sequence involves:

  • Bath 1 (Pre-cleaning and Hot Degreasing): The first part of the service completely removes various forms of surface contamination using ultrasound and hot cleaning solutions.
  • Bath 2 (Rinsing, Grease/Cleaning, Solution Removal): We then rinse away any residual grease, dirt, or cleaning solution from the component. This can help prevent cross-contamination in the next steps.
  • Bath 3 (Corrosion Removal): We completely remove any corrosion on the machine. We do this by using an ultrasonic cleaner at 130°F and a gentle, slightly acidic complex de-ruster. This step is suitable for hardened or polished surfaces.
  • Bath 4 (Rinsing and Acid Neutralization): Once the corrosion has been removed, this bath rinses away any residual acid and eliminated corrosion from machinery, preparing the parts for the final step.
  • Bath 5 (Water Displacement and Preservation): Water displacement and passivating agents are added. This is to ensure that the metal surfaces of machine parts do not rust again when exposed to air, helping to preserve parts for much longer.
