Snow globe made from recycled glass

Craft instructions

Create an enchanting snow globe from an old jar! This DIY project brings winter magic into your home and gives discarded glasses a new purpose. Perfect for a festive decoration or as a personalised gift.

What you need
  • Old glass, e.g. an old pickle or jam jar
  • Decorative snow or glitter
  • Distilled water
  • Mini decorative Christmas trees
  • Mini Christmas tree baubles
  • Hot glue gun or superglue
  • Ribbon or jute twine
How to make it
  1. clean and dry the jar thoroughly to ensure that no residue remains inside
  2. attach the decorative Christmas tree and mini baubles to the inside of the lid using the hot glue gun or superglue. Allow the glue to harden completely so that the decoration is securely attached.
  3. pour the decorative snow or glitter into the jar. The amount depends on how thick you want the snow effect to be.
  4. Pour distilled water up to the edge of the jar to avoid air pockets.
  5. Carefully screw the lid onto the jar and shake it to test the snow effect. Add more glitter, snow or water if necessary.
  6. Screw the lid on tightly and secure it with glue to prevent it from leaking.
  7. Wrap jute twine or ribbon around the lid to cover the glued seam and give the snow globe a decorative finish.
