The remediation procedure involves four key stages:

1. Site Investigation: Conduct a detailed assessment to determine the extent of oil spread, including sampling and analysis.
2. Exploratory Work: Perform in-depth exploratory work and additional sampling if needed.
3. Remediation: Remove and dispose of contaminated materials, and eliminate remaining contamination using bio-remediation (the use of microorganisms to safely break down contaminants).
4. Refurbishment & Repair: Replace damp-proof courses, rebuild affected areas, replace pipes, and redecorate.
