Sustainability is in our DNA
As the world’s largest refurbishment company, we not only want to make buildings or machines usable again after damage, but also preserve the basis of life for future generations. We benefit from the fact that our business model is fundamentally sustainable. After all, refurbishment is almost always more resource-efficient than a new purchase or construction. However, we are not resting on our laurels. Instead, our aim is to repair damage in such a way that it does as little harm to the environment as possible.
On the right track on site …
In our operations, we therefore always endeavour to reduce the impact of our actions on the climate and environment. This starts with the use of the most energy-efficient dryers on the market and does not end with the use of particularly environmentally friendly sanitising agents. The integration of technology also helps to protect the environment. The best example is the BELFOR 360°DamageScan, which eliminates the need for repeated trips to the damage site.
… and in your own home.
We are also shaping the change towards greater sustainability at our locations and in our internal processes. Flexible working and the use of digital tools are already reducing CO2 emissions at BELFOR, for example by eliminating journeys and saving paper. The next step will be the gradual electrification of our fleet. Our Scandinavian branches are leading the way here, with almost 100% of them already travelling with electric vehicles on the road to CO2 neutrality.
More than “just” ecologically sustainable.
Of course, we are also aware of our responsibility towards society in general and our employees in particular. That is why our commitment does not stop at climate and environmental protection. We also endeavour to act in an economically sustainable manner in order to secure jobs in the long term through sound business practices. Furthermore, we are committed to acting in accordance with the law and local regulations in all markets in which we operate. These are just two examples of our crystal-clear commitment to our responsibility as a globally active company.
Good today, even better tomorrow.
We have even more plans for the future. For example, we are planning to become completely CO2-neutral. To this end, we are currently measuring our total annual CO2 emissions. We will have these figures certified and use them as a benchmark for significantly lower emissions in the following year. One of the most effective measures is to gradually equip our branch with PV systems – to sustainably power our buildings and our e-vehicles.
Our goal: to achieve the UN goals.
BELFOR’s efforts to improve sustainability are based on the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. We are focussing on five of the official 17 UN goals: Health and well-being, quality education, reduced inequalities, sustainable consumption and production, and climate action.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals
As part of the 2030 Agenda, the global community has agreed to achieve 17 goals under the umbrella of the United Nations. The aim behind the goals is to enable us all to live in dignity and to ensure the long-term preservation of our livelihoods.
