FLORIDA KEYS COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Hurricane Irma damaged 90 percent of the buildings on the Florida Keys Community College campus in Florida. More than 300 BELFOR specialists helped restore and reopen the campus.
When Hurricane Irma brought widespread destruction across Florida, the Florida Keys Community College (FKCC) in Key West suffered significant damage. As the southernmost institution in the Florida College System, FKCC plays a vital role in the higher education, workforce, and continuing education needs of Key West and Monroe County.
Hurricane Irma damaged 90 percent of the buildings on campus. Because of the extensive damage, from water to structural damage, the college was forced to temporarily close the school.
BELFOR restoration teams responded in less than a week, despite the difficulty of widespread damage across the region and the remote location of the college. More than 300 restoration specialists began to provide emergency services.
“The College was so impressed with the emergency repairs and process, BELFOR was retained to complete the restoration of the campus.”
